Springing Forward

Spring is almost in the air. Like many of you, I’ve been eagerly awaiting daylights savings time, which is coming up this Sunday, March 12. As we approach the end of winter, I’m sure we’re all looking forward to having a little extra sunshine in our lives. To welcome in the next season, I’d like to share a few pieces of news and updates at CUA.

I am excited to tell you that the response to our Community Investment Grant Program was once again great this year, with a total of 381 applications received from all parts of Nova Scotia. In addition to this high response level, the quality of the submissions was excellent with many worthy recipients. Our team has been sorting carefully through applications, and the successful grant recipients for the five categories will be announced on March 28. In the meantime, you may want to explore our complete list of past Grant recipients.

As you may have noticed, we’ve recently updated our 2-Step Verification system as part of our continued enhancements in technology security. Now, each time you log in to your online banking via the website or mobile app, you enter the verification code that is sent to your phone or email. If you’re familiar with our Community Partners Program (CPP), you may have noticed that we’ve given it a brand-new look. Since 2012, the CPP has been our way to encourage members to shop at Nova Scotia-owned businesses and support the local economy. The program benefits businesses through promotional efforts, while providing personal members with rewards and discounts. If you own or operate a business and are interested in joining the CPP, you can register your business through our online form. For our personal members, keep your eyes open for the Community Partners logo at participating businesses. Simply show your CUA debit or credit card at checkout to receive a special discount or offer. You can explore CUA’s list of Partners on our website.

Finally, please save the date for CUA’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) which is coming up on April 25. The AGM is a wonderful opportunity to hear about what we accomplished in 2022 and what’s planned for an exciting 2023, CUA’s 75th Anniversary year. This event will begin at 7:00 p.m. and will be held at Ashburn Golf Club, which is located at 3250 Joseph Howe Drive in Halifax. All CUA members are welcome to attend.
