1. Where did you grow up and if you moved to the Halifax area, what brought you here?
I grew up in Tatamagouche, NS, and moved to Ontario to further my career in banking. My love for the East Coast is what brought me back. The environment out here is unlike anywhere else, and I just couldn’t be away from it any longer.
2. Can you highlight your educational background and professional experience?
I graduated from Mount Allison University and worked as a Small Business and Professional Banking Advisor, after being a successful small business owner myself. This has allowed me to establish and foster relationships across the community, which has resulted in a strong network within the local business community.
3. Since joining CUA, what other positions have you held?
I joined CUA as a branch manager, and that is my current role.
4. What does a “regular” workday look like for you?
Irregular is the most regular thing about my workday. Every day has two parts:
-
Working with my team and our members to set up for success, and ensuring I am available to support them in whatever way I can.
-
Reviewing reports and our performance to make sure our branch is operating at its best and looking for any opportunities to improve on our service.
5. What is the best part of your job?
The best part of my job is helping both our members and my team succeed. I value forming genuine connections with my clients which allows me to gain a deeper understanding of their financial situation and provide tailored solutions for their individual goals. I take great pride in going above and beyond to provide the best possible service experience for my clients. Being a results-focused individual with an affinity for details means my clients can rely on our partnership to ensure their banking needs are met and handled with the care and consideration they deserve.
6. What is one piece of financial advice that you believe everyone should follow?
Finance isn’t one size fits all. You need to do what’s right for you. That’s why it’s important to find a financial advisor that you trust, and who understands the specifics of your financial situation.
7. Outside of your professional life, what is your favourite activity or hobby
I love to be outdoors, especially camping, canoeing, hiking, mountain biking, and riding motorcycles.
8. Do you perform, volunteer, or do community work (boards, committees, sports, etc.) and if so, what?
Once I’ve settled in, I’m looking forward to getting involved in the community.
9. What is your favourite meal to cook at home or order at a restaurant?
Anything sea food. Especially now that I have moved back to the Maritimes, I am always on the hunt for the best fish cakes!
