CUA's Better Way Shopping Giveaway

A great big giveaway to support small business.

The Nova Scotia economy is re-opening, as are the doors of many small businesses. As a full-service banking provider to many small businesses in our province, CUA was excited to participate in Re-Open City by giving away $2,500 to spend at Nova Scotia-owned small businesses.

When we do business and spend at companies owned and operated by Nova Scotians, more of every dollar stays right here.  In fact, small businesses recirculate up to 63% of their revenue back into the local economy compared to 14% for multinational corporations – proof that stepping up for Nova Scotian businesses makes more cents.

Congratulations to our winners!

The grand prize winner of CUA’s Better Way Shopping Giveaway chose how they wanted to spend $1,500 at Nova Scotian-owned businesses!  The winner gave us their wish list and chose to support Bookmark, the Bicycle Thief, Vivacious Vixen ApparelJohn David Shoes and FireWorks Gallery.

INFORMATION/RULES

“CUA’s Better Way Shopping Giveaway” Contest

Rules and Regulations

  1. Eligibility and Entry: CUA’s Better Way Shopping Giveaway (the “Contest”) is being conducted by CUA (Credit Union Atlantic Limited) for its activation as a participant of Re-Open City Halifax, an event of Develop Nova Scotia. The Contest runs from June 26, 2020 to July 16, 2020 (the “Contest Period”) and is open to any resident of Nova Scotia who, during the Contest Period, completes the digital ballot available on CUA’s website (the “Entrant”). Entrants are not required to be active customers of CUA. The digital ballot is accessible directly via the CUA website and via links provided to prospective Entrants who text “SHOP” to 11011 during the Contest Period. Standard text messaging and data rates may apply.

  2. No Purchase Necessary: No purchase of any CUA product or service is necessary to enter this Contest.

  3. Entry Restrictions: Employees and board members of CUA are not eligible for Contest entry. To be eligible to enter the Contest, Entrants must be legal residents of Nova Scotia and must have reached the age of majority in Nova Scotia. Residents of other provinces are not eligible to enter the Contest. Entrants are permitted a maximum of two entries, with any additional entries deemed void and disqualified.

  4. Entry Deadline: To be accepted, Entrants must complete the digital ballot no later than 3:59 p.m. on Thursday, July 16, 2020. Late entries will not be accepted.

  5. Prizes: A total of five (5) prizes of two (2) varieties will be awarded to Contest winners:

    1. Grand prize: One (1) gift card package of a total value of $1,500 to a maximum of 15 Nova Scotia small businesses, to be selected by the winning Entrant.

    2. Weekly prize packages: Four (4) experience packages of $250.

  6. Selection and Determination of Prize Winners and Prize Distribution: Prize winning Entrants will be selected through random draws of all eligible digital ballot entries received by the end of the Contest Period. Three of the four weekly prizes will be drawn on June 29, July 6, and July 13, 2020, with the final weekly prize and the grand prize draw being held on Friday, July 17 at 12:00 p.m. AST at CUA’s Corporate Office, located at 350-7105 Chebucto Road, Halifax, Nova Scotia. Selected Entrants will be notified by telephone using the number they provide upon completing the digital ballot. If the winner cannot immediately be reached, a voicemail will be left requesting them to contact a CUA representative to claim their prize. If a response from the voicemail is not received within twenty-four (24) hours, CUA will conduct one additional phone call and email the Entrant with the email address they provide upon completing the digital ballot. If there is no response to the second phone call and initial email within twenty-four (24) hours, the entry will be considered void and disqualified. The Entrant will then have no recourse against CUA. A new Entrant will be selected for the prize, and the above notification process will be repeated until all selected Entrants are contacted. The odds of selection will depend on the total number of eligible entries received. Before being declared a prize winner, each selected Entrant must a) be confirmed as a Nova Scotia resident; b) sign a photo consent form confirming their name, photo and likeness may be used in CUA marketing and promotions; and c) may be required to correctly answer a time-limited, skill-testing mathematical question, without mechanical or other assistance. Selected Entrants must accept their prize as awarded; no prize is redeemable for exchanges or substitutions.

  7. Terms of Entry - By entering the Contest, Entrants:

    1. Agree to abide by all Contest rules and regulations, and acknowledge that CUA reserves the right to cancel, terminate, modify, or suspend the Contest for any reason, without any prior notice to any Entrant;

    2. Agree to release and hold harmless CUA, including, but not limited to, its respective officers, directors, employees, agents, representatives, contractors, sub-contractors, wealth management partners, and shareholders from all liability resulting from Contest entry, award, use, possession, or misuse of any prize, including any and all liability for injuries and loss or damage of any kind;

    3. Acknowledge that no warranty or guarantee is given by CUA surrounding the use of the prize;

  8. Prize Winners: By entering this Contest, Entrants agree that if they are selected as a prize winner, their name, photo, and likeness may be posted at CUA’s corporate office or branch locations, on its website, and/or the social media channels of CUA and can be used for advertising purposes without additional compensation.

  9. Applicable Law: The Contest and the prizes awarded are subject to all applicable federal, provincial, and municipal laws.

  10. Privacy: CUA abides by its online privacy policy with all digital communications and promotions. Submission of a completed digital ballot shall be treated as an Entrant’s express consent to the collection, use, and disclosure of their personal information, as noted above, if they are selected as a prize winner. Providing contact information upon completing the digital ballot will opt-in the participant to future updates and promotional messages from CUA.
