Planning Your Holiday Financial Goals

With the holidays quickly approaching, it’s nice to take a moment to reflect on how much we have accomplished in the past year. Many of us have reached the financial goals we’ve set for ourselves, while others may be developing new ones for the upcoming year. As we look back on 2022 and the milestones our members have reached, our team at CUA is grateful to have been a part of these journeys, and we look forward to serving you again in the coming year.

We are soon entering the season of giving, which is a time where many members of our community could use a helping hand. If you have the time and ability over the holidays, consider ways that you can give back to your community, whether that be through volunteer efforts, donating or simply taking the time to support a Nova Scotian-owned business. If you’re looking for a way to contribute to the Nova Scotian economy with your holiday shopping, take some time to explore our recommendations through CUA’s Holiday Wish List.

CUA is proud to be a strong contributor to the community year-round, and looking ahead into the new year, we’re excited to share that our Community Investment Grant Program will be returning in early January 2023. Since its inception in 2015, the Program has grown to welcome applications from across the Province, with a total of over 1,500 applications received and 95 grants awarded. As part of our ongoing Community Impact Initiatives, we’ll be providing $100,000 in funding to small businesses, organizations and social enterprises that make a big impact in our province. We’re looking forward to learning about all of the new ideas and initiatives that are happening in the Province. More details will soon be shared about the Program, so please keep an eye on CUA’s website and social media.

In other recent news, nominations for our Board of Directors election are now closed. As you may know, an important part of our operations at CUA involves exceptional governance from our Board, with director positions elected in April of each year. Thank you to all who participated in the nomination process. For more information regarding the election process and relevant dates, please visit our webpage.

As you get ready for the winter and the weeks of spending ahead, keep your financial goals for the new year in mind. Remember that CUA has many resources when it comes to budgeting, including this CUAdvice article for Keeping Your Budget on Track.

On behalf of the CUA team, I’d like to thank our members for your continued loyalty to CUA. We wish you a warm, safe and happy holiday season. As always, if you would like to connect with us at any point to discuss your financial journey, please reach out to us at 902.492.6500 or info@cua.com.
