CUA & Junior Achievement Launch #Adulting Bootcamp

Youth gain insights on money matters, career readiness

Halifax, N.S. – CUA and Junior Achievement of Nova Scotia (JANS) have partnered to launch #Adulting, a program dedicated to preparing youth with skills to help them transition to adulthood.

Yesterday, when most high school students in the Halifax area were enjoying a day home from school, ten youth from Pathways to Education in Spryfield, spent the day working on their own professional development.  The youth completed a day-long bootcamp style program called #Adulting, learning a variety of valuable lessons on money matters and workplace readiness, including budgeting, financing, decision-making and goal-setting.

According to Kristin Williams, President and CEO of JANS, the program was developed in response to input from students and JANS program alumni.  

“There was a clear need for the development of learning opportunities that would increase confidence in financial matters,” says Kristin Williams. “Our #Adulting program provides youth with the skills needed to help them transition to independent living and it’s because of like-minded partners like CUA, that we are able to continue delivering this valuable programming.”
Experienced staff and volunteers from CUA and JANS delivered #Adulting to the group of engaged teenagers, eager to learn the skills that will help them move in to adulthood and future independence.

Planning is underway for a second cohort of students to complete the #Adulting bootcamp later this year.
