1. Where did you grow up, and can you highlight your educational background and professional experience?
I grew up in Halifax, Nova Scotia but moved to Belize with my family as a teenager. I returned to Nova Scotia with my husband and two kids just over 8 years ago.
2. Can you highlight your educational background and professional experience?
I have had a variety of jobs over the years but one thing they all had in common was service to others – I have always sought opportunities and employment where I can help people. I love being in a role where I can make a difference.
3. What drew you to banking?
I was looking for a new and challenging career opportunity with potential for growth. After meeting some of the CUA team through a community fundraising event, I felt CUA was a great fit!
4. What does a “regular” workday look like for you?
My alarm goes off at 5:40am and after pressing snooze a minimum of 3 times, I get up, make breakfast for my family and myself and head off to work. My workday goes by pretty quickly; between serving members and supporting my team, the day is usually over before I know it.
5. What is the best part of your job?
I LOVE the members and helping to solve a variety of problems. I have formed close connections with many of them in my time at CUA.
6. Since being in your role with CUA, what is the most valuable thing you’ve learned?
The importance of being part of a team I know I can trust.
7. What is one piece of financial advice that you believe everyone should follow?
Focus on saving. A good starting point is directing three to ten percent of your paycheque to a savings program. Set it up as an automatic transfer on payday and you won’t even miss it!
8. Outside of your professional life, what is your favourite activity or hobby?
I like working out with my best friend and spending time outdoors with my rescue dog, Willow.
9. Do you perform volunteer or community work (boards, committees, sports, etc.) and if so, what?
I’m a regular blood donor and I enjoy being involved in my community. I regularly volunteer for various community events and currently serve on the PTA at my younger child’s school.
10. What is your favourite meal to cook at home or order at a restaurant?
Any meal I don’t have to cook!
