Meet Neil Holland

As a Financial Advisor and Mutual Fund Representative at the Cole Harbour Branch, Neil expresses the excitement he shares with his clients and his famous last words: "It's never too late to start investing".

  1. Where did you grow up and if you moved to the Halifax area, what brought you here?

I grew up in Colby Village, which is part of the Cole Harbour area.

  1. Can you highlight your educational background and professional experience?

I have a Bachelor of Arts from Saint Mary’s University and have now spent 13 years in the banking industry. I have been with CUA for six CUA.

  1. What drew you to banking?

A friend of mine was a stockbroker while I was working as a bartender. They told me I’d be great at it with my personality. Fast forward a few years, and here I am.

  1. Since joining CUA, what other positions have you held?

I have been a Financial Advisor and Mutual Fund Representative for the last six years.

  1. What does a “regular” workday look like for you?

There is no “regular” workday in my world. No two days are the same because every client and customer is different and has different needs.

  1. What is the best part of your job?

The most rewarding part of my job is being able to witness and share in the excitement my clients experience when investing successfully and then seeing their returns.

  1. Since being in your role with CUA, what is the most valuable thing you’ve learned?

Never judge a book by its cover. Every client has a different background and set of experiences that brought them to where they are now.

  1. What is one piece of financial advice that you believe everyone should follow?

It’s never too late to start investing. If you’re not sure where to start, you can always book an appointment with me or one of CUA’s other financial advisors to get your questions answered and figure out what might be the best investments options for you and your goals.

  1. Outside of your professional life, what is your favourite activity or hobby?

I’m a retired football player, so now that I’m getting older, these days I spend much of my time doing physiotherapy rather than playing.

  1. What is your favourite meal to cook at home or order at a restaurant?

I’m a carnivore so I love steak, although I also make a mean breakfast sandwich.
