Meet Shaun
Shaun was born and raised in Glace Bay, Cape Breton. With 25 years' experience in commercial banking, Shaun has specialized in franchise banking, international trade, aboriginal banking, knowledge-based industries and real estate financing. He joined the CUA team in 2012.
In his spare time, Shaun gives back to the community through his volunteer with as Treasurer for the Hammonds Plains Community Centre and as President of the Bay Treasure Chest Association. Shaun lives in Hammonds Plains with his wife, two sons, and Miniature Labradoodle.

Meet Tarek
Tarek was born and raised in Port Said, Egypt, overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce with a major in accounting, and an MBA with distinction. As a Senior Commercial Account Manager at CUA, Tarek brings over 15 years of experience working in commercial banking and credit unions across three different countries. He has proven expertise in credit management, relationship management and credit restructuring.
Outside of work, you can find Tarek spending time with his wife, three kids, and Golden Retriever. He enjoys playing chess, trekking, playing pickleball and reading about history, sustainability, and best business practices. He also loves to travel, having visited over 12 countries and 30 cities, with a special interest in modern and classic art.
Meet Brad
Born in Corner Brook, Newfoundland, Brad has spent nearly two decades in the banking industry with the last few years focused on small business banking. He joined the CUA team in 2018 and brings with him a variety of banking skills, including account and cash management, commercial real estate, commercial deposit management and other small business and commercial lending.
Outside of the office, Brad likes to spend time with his wife and son especially hiking and camping, riding his bike through the trails, playing hockey and golf and playing a variety of musical instruments. Brad currently lives in Hammonds Plains with his wife, son, dog and cat.
Meet Amanda
Amanda grew up on the southern coast of Labrador and joined CUA in 2023 with almost 20 years of banking experience. She’s worked in various roles throughout her career, including Business Financial Services, Pension Benefits Consultant, and Mortgage Specialist.
In her current role as a Commercial Accounts Manager with CUA, Amanda is committed to creating long-lasting relationships in the community. Whether customers are starting a new business, buying a business, restructuring, or expanding a business, Amanda will work with them to understand their goals and deliver superior service to help reach them.
Outside of work, you can find Amanda spending time with her family, whether that’s skiing in the winter or lakeside during the summer.
Meet Doe
Doe grew up in the beautiful Annapolis Valley and joined the CUA team in 2020. Her experience in banking spans financial planning, investments, estate planning, as well as debt and cash flow management and she holds a PFP® designation.
She specializes in working with new and established business owners to develop a plan for success and to provide financial advice at every step of the way. Her passion is supporting yours, and she enjoys making a meaningful impact by supporting the businesses who are the heartbeat of our community.
In her spare time, you can find Doe trying to convince her kids that she’s cool. She also enjoys swimming, playing the piano and teaching financial literacy in her community.
Meet Tasha
Tasha grew up in Eastern Passage, with familial ties to Devil’s Island as her grandfather was born there. She has been in the banking industry since 2002 and has held roles at every level, from serving as a Financial Service Representative to Branch Manager. Her experiences and passion for helping people led her to her current role as Commercial Account Manager.
She specializes in helping business owners across the province grow their business with innovative and flexible banking, lending and investment options. Tasha loves to meet people and enjoys finding tailored solutions for each situation she encounters.
In her spare time, you can find Tasha spending time with her husband and two children, cooking, gardening, cycling and horseback riding.
Meet Susan
Susan grew up in Amherst and after attending St. Francis Xavier University, she moved to Dartmouth. With over twenty years experience in Small Business and Credit Risk Management, Susan is no stranger to dealing with various types of businesses in HRM and across Canada.
Susan loves working directly with our Nova Scotian Small Business owners and Non-Profit Associations across our province. She joined the CUA team in 2019.
In her spare time, you will find Susan camping at the beautiful Kejimkujik park, walking trails with her dog, or at the rink cheering on her daughter as she plays ringette.
Meet Jordan
Jordan grew up in Markham, Ontario, and has called Halifax home for the past several years. He joined the CUA team in 2018 and has held various roles from Financial Services Representative to Financial Advisor prior to joining the Commercial Team as a Small Business Advisor.
Jordan loves to meet with customers to discuss goals for their businesses and create a plan to help them get there. He’s passionate about seeing the positive impact small businesses have on their community, and what they can achieve with the right financial advice and guidance.
Outside of work, Jordan plays drums and teaches music lessons, spending his free time hiking and playing tennis.
Meet Angela
Angela grew up in Hubbards and joined the CUA team in 2021. She began her banking career in 2000 and brings over 16 years of experience in the commercial financial sector to her current role as Small Business Advisor.
Angela is a singer/songwriter, a professional recording artist, and a three-time Nashville Award Winner. In her spare time, you can find Angela either on the basketball court with her two children, or at many local establishments performing and bringing entertainment to our beautiful province.
Meet Sandy
Born and raised in Halifax, Sandy has enjoyed a career in banking that has included branch management, small business and commercial account management, international trade finance, and real estate financing. Throughout his career, Sandy has enjoyed working with a wide range of companies from start-ups to publicly traded corporations and he has always enjoyed building strong relationships with his clients.
Sandy joined the CUA team in 2015 as a Commercial Account Manager and in 2021 he assumed the role of Commercial Credit Analyst to support the CUA Commercial Team.
Outside of the office, Sandy enjoys hiking, kayaking, heading south each winter to escape the cold, listening to music and spending quality time with friends and family.
Meet Michelle
Michelle joined CUA in 2009 with over 20 years’ experience in administration of commercial mortgage products.
She handles all administration aspects of the commercial portfolio including preparation of security documentation, loan disbursement, transaction posting and renewals.
Michelle is a country girl who enjoys the simple things in life and spending time with her family, friends and fur babies.
Meet Nancy
Nancy joined CUA in 2018 with over 25 years' experience in the financial industry.
She assists in handling the administration aspects of the commercial portfolio including preparation of security documentation, loan disbursement, transaction posting and renewals.
Nancy has spent the last 30 years in the Halifax area, but Cape Breton will always be home. Her spare time is spent at the local Community Centre where she volunteers. Most of all she loves spending time with her family and friends.
Meet Heidi
Heidi was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and grew up in Beaverbank, NS. She is one of CUA’s Commercial Administrative Assistants and brings an impressive 21 combined years in the banking industry, and an additional 5 years working in the insurance industry.
Heidi now lives in Spryfield with her spouse of 33 years. She has one son and just welcomed her first grandchild on July 15, 2024. In her spare time, Heidi likes going for long drives, motorcycle trips, attending BINGO with her sister, and relaxing at home.
