From Chaos Comes Clarity

So much has changed in the past year and a half. The pace of digital transformation. How we use technology to interact with one another. The disruption of supply chains. And, most importantly, the emotional state and outlook of each of us as individuals.

Separating us from our friends and families, the pandemic has challenged our sense of belonging and identity. It has forced us to reflect on what matters most, opening the door to pursue positive change in ourselves and our communities. That change includes where people spent their money and where they placed their priorities. In a 2021 report, it showed that consumers placed more emphasis on eco-friendly behaviors and healthy living. Additionally, people indicated they were being more data-conscious, price-conscious and placed a greater emphasis on shopping local. As Canadians emerge from the pandemic, we have the opportunity to reflect on our priorities, as the image of a better future starts to take shape.

The pandemic transformed the economy and disrupted every aspect of our lives, including how we learn, shop and work. These changes have unleashed a wave of creativity and innovation. A recent survey among Canadian entrepreneurs reveals that one in five started their business within the past year. While entrepreneurship grows, many established organizations are experiencing significant turnover. A Statistics Canada report released in August says that 30% of businesses expect a labour force shortage over the next three months. The pandemic clarified the priorities of many Canadians, with more people seeking roles with flexible working conditions and a better work-life balance.

We know that this time of transformation has caused a great deal of change with you, our members, and we want to ensure we are adapting to meet your needs through strengthening our organization. As a customer-owner, your input into CUA has a meaningful impact on our priorities and operations.   That’s why each year, we ask for your feedback in our Annual Member Survey. The 2021 Survey is available between September 23 – October 14, 2021 by visiting cua.com/survey. The responses we receive help shape the products and services we offer and guide our efforts to provide relevant and meaningful experiences to our customers. To thank you for your participation, members who complete the Survey will be entered into a draw for a $1,000 cash prize.

As always, we’re here to help. If you have questions about the Survey or would like to speak to a member of the CUA team about your financial needs, we want to hear from you. Call 902.492.6500 or email info@cua.com.
