Making Your Next Move Count

I hope the sunnier days and warmer weather have been treating you all well. As you might know, May is National Moving Month; many leases will be coming to an end in the approaching weeks, particularly for students who have finished their semesters. This marks the beginning of the busy moving season across the Province. During this time of transition, for both students and non-students alike, questions about what the future looks like and where it will take you are bound to arise. For current renters, dreams of home ownership may be on the horizon, and for homeowners, you could be considering an upgrade or even a change of location.

Planning to buy your first home is an exciting time. But we know that for many Nova Scotians, this dream can feel out of reach, particularly as the cost of living continues to increase. According to a recent report, the year over year difference in income needed to purchase a home in Halifax is an additional $13,140.

While some potential homebuyers may be feeling discouraged, it is possible to find a solution that puts home ownership within reach. CUA is dedicated to making your home ownership dreams a reality. With flexible mortgage options, including products such as the No Down Payment Mortgage and Purchase Plus Improvements Mortgage, you can feel confident taking the next step towards purchasing a home. To discover more options, or to learn more about our mortgage products, reach out to a member of our team.

In recent news, CUA held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on April 25th. This event was a wonderful opportunity for members to learn about our accomplishments in 2022 and our plans for 2023. The theme of this event was celebrating our 75th anniversary and included member testimonials from over the years. Our team put together a video compilation of member quotes for the event that you can see on our website. It’s been our continued pleasure to serve our members, and we look forward to more opportunities to deliver the better way to bank for the next 75 years.

I would also like to welcome our Board members who have started new terms this year; Vice Chair of the Board, Jay Aird, and Chair of the Credit Committee, Karim George, were both confirmed for another term during the meeting. Thank you to each of our Board members for your continued work in guiding our organization!

Finally, a warm thank you to each of our members who attended the Meeting, and we look forward to seeing you again next year. Read more about this year’s AGM.

I hope you all enjoy the rest of the spring season. As always, if you have questions about our mortgage products or any other financial matters, please reach out to us at 902.492.6500 or info@cua.com.
