2020 Vision

Marie Mullally, CUA President & CEOHappy New Year!  I hope you enjoyed the holiday season and were able to spend time with those that matter most to you.

As the calendar changes and we welcome both a new year and a new decade, many reflect on their priorities for the future and set resolutions to better their health, relationships or finances.  Often, financial resolutions involve taking a long view toward our financial journey and making or reassessing plans for retirement, saving for a major purchase or merely putting aside money for a rainy day.  If you’re thinking about saving or investing, we like to say that the best time to start is today.  From simple high-interest savings accounts to savvy DIY investing tools and everything in between—including educational content for those starting out and looking to learn—CUA is ready to help with your resolutions and any step of the financial journey they may inspire.

While we’re helping customers get ahead by taking the long view toward their finances, we’re also thinking about how we can reach more Nova Scotians.  Our vision is to be Nova Scotia’s most successful community banking institution because we know that when individuals and organizations receive the service and support they need to become financially stronger, it can have a positive impact greater than the sum of its parts.  In fact, helping individuals and organizations achieve financial well-being helps our entire province become stronger.

We understand starting a new business or community initiative can be challenging.  That’s why for the past several years, CUA’s Community Investment Grant Program has provided financial support to individuals and organizations committed to making immediate, positive impacts in their communities.  By supporting the people and projects aiming to create positive impacts, we are not only investing in an idea but in a desire to improve our community, resulting in positive effect on our economy.  This year, we are expanding the Program to be eligible to applicants across Nova Scotia and will be distributing a total of $50,000 in grants across three categories: 1. Small Business; 2. Community and Non-Profit; and, 3. Sports and Recreation.

If you have an idea to create a positive impact and build a stronger community, or if you know others who do, I encourage you to apply or share information on the Program with those who may benefit.  Details can be found at cua.com/grants »

As always, I welcome you to reach out to us at 902.492.6500 or info@cua.com to learn more, or to get started with us.

On behalf of the entire CUA team, I wish you a joyous and prosperous 2020.

Marie Mullally
