Karen Miner

Director

Karen is a proud CUA member with the right experience and expertise to be a strong ambassador for its diverse membership. Karen is known for her values-based approach, passion for co-operatives and credit unions, broad perspective, and leadership qualities.

Karen's career has focused on governance, strategy, business management, and sustainability within member-owned businesses, non-profits, for-profit organizations, and government. Governance is one of her passions, and she is a certified director through the credit union and corporate sectors: ACCUD and ICD.D.

Karen works with co-operative and credit union professionals from around the world as Managing Director of the International Centre for Co-operative Management at Saint Mary's University. Other related activities have included six years on the Board of Directors of Mountain Equipment Co-op (MEC), advisory panels for The Co-operators and Vancity Credit Union, a Board member for the Canadian Co-operative Association (CCA), and her current role on the Board of Co-operatives and Mutuals Canada (national trade association).

Karen has served as a Board member for various non-profit boards, including Fairtrade Canada, the Nova Scotia Nature Trust, and the Ecology Action Centre. She lives in Dartmouth with her husband Dan, daughter Isabel, and son Luke.

Karen joined in the CUA Board in 2014 and is a member of the Credit Committee
