Important Update

July 30, 2020

To our valued members:

By now, I expect you have heard the Provincial Government’s announcement that requires everyone in Nova Scotia to wear a mask in most indoor public spaces as of July 31st. This new protective measure is designed to benefit our health and economy, preventing the spread of COVID-19 while ensuring it is safe to conduct business. We have confirmed that our branches and Corporate Office are included in the mask requirement, as all of these locations are accessible to customers, visitors and the public. As we have done from the beginning of the pandemic, we are ensuring that we meet the standards and direction from Public Health and the Government of Nova Scotia.

Starting tomorrow, July 31st, we will still be smiling as we serve you — and hope you will be too — behind the safety of a mask. If you are planning to visit one of our locations, here’s what you need to know about how we’re staying safe together:

  • Everyone over the age of four will be required to bring and wear their own mask prior to entry, unless they are exempt due to a medical condition. This includes staff, members and visitors.
  • Visitors and members will be required to wear a mask for the duration of their visit. This includes while waiting in line, sitting in our reception area, standing at the teller counter or meeting with a Financial Advisor.
  • CUA staff will also be required to wear a mask when in the areas outlined above, and also while assisting or meeting with members or visitors.
  • If required, staff will confirm a person’s identity by asking questions similar to those asked by our team when assisting members over the phone.
  • Current measures such as using hand sanitizer and maintaining six feet of physical distance remain an important part of CUA’s COVID-19 Prevention Plan and therefore, they continue to be requirements at all of our locations.
I want to extend my sincere appreciation for your continued business and confidence in CUA. We will continue to adapt while staying focused on doing what we love to do – serving you, our valued customers. You are a critical part of our future as we help Nova Scotians navigate their finances. If ever you have questions about your finances or CUA’s operations, please reach out to me or a member of our team. We are here to help.
